Jeff Calder's 50th Birthday Memoirs > Becky Calder (1)

Jeff & Becky 1966
Since I have known Jeff for 37 years (27 of which in wedded bliss), I have enough Jeff Calder stories to write a book. I'll try to be nice because we are honoring him for surviving a rock n roll life for sooooooo long. I could tell the story about the time he spent the rent money on a velvet cloak, or when I had a date (c. 1968) with a football player nicknamed "The Animal" and Jeff showed up at my house in leather pants and a poncho, stood on the hood of his car and hurled insults. I could talk about how he does yard work at night using the headlights of the car. I could reveal how absent minded he is, like the time he cleaned the driveway with wallpaper stripper. We often tease him about being the inventor of flubber. When we lived next to the Oak
Grove Pharmacy, he would respond to their burglar alarm by running over there. Once he chased away a theif and they gave him a box of candy as a reward. He came home and proudly showed us the box that had been inscribed: "To the Hero of Oak Grove Pharmacy." Later we learned that he had written the inscription himself. I could go on and on, but I'll wrap this up by
saying that life with Jeff Calder is entertaining and educational, so may he live another 50 years.
